Suspended Sebei College Tegeres S.4 students to pay 100k each

The suspended S.4 students of sebei college Tegeres have been tasked to pay 100k Ushs each for the destruction they caused during the strike over food on Thursday.

The decision was reached following a parents meeting which was held on Saturday 6/07/2024 at sebei college Tegeres school premises.

According to the chairperson Board of Governors sebei college Tegeres, Mr Sabila Herbert Muge, each student will pay 100k Ushs which will be used for the renovation of the damaged school properties.

“On Friday, we held several emergency meetings at the school which consisted of different individuals ranging from the RDC, DPC, and other stakeholders. in the meetings, it was resolved that, s.4 students who were there ring leaders of the strike be suspended indefinitely and parents meeting be held on Saturday 6/07/2024 to discuss on other issues,” Muge said.

Further, Muge revealed that, during the meeting which was held on Saturday, 6, it was also resolved that suspended students, report back to school on 14/07/2024 .

he also noted that, in the meeting, it was agreed that the renovation works start immediately so as at the time students return, most of the damaged property would have been repaired.

“During the assessment which was made by the district engineer on Friday, it was discovered that property Worth 56 million shillings was destroyed. following the Bills Of quantities (BOQs) each student was to pay 212k Ushs but the parents cried out that it was much and it was scaled to 100k Ushs,” Muge added.

he also said that there is a gap of money but the school administration will see also how to handle the remaining balance so as the renovation works are completed.

Muge however advised the parents to always to their children before they send them to school to avoid such scenarios.

He also said that during the meeting, some of the parents attested that some of the students abuse drugs.

Kipmos Abraham the Vice chairman Board of governors Sebei college tegeres noted that, some of the students have never been canned in their entire life by their parents and when teachers try to Cain them, the revolt saying that if their parents have never cained them, then who’s the teacher to do so.
