Sebei Hydro Uganda Ltd To Build Cheptui Hydro Dam

The Dep RDC Mr Martin Sakajja has asked all companies operating projects in Kapchorwa to fulfill their pledges as per the MOUs signed with the district.

Mr Sakajja made his remarks while in a consultative meeting organized by Sebei Hydro Uganda Ltd with key stakeholders of district leadership and technocrats at Kokhall.

He also pledged support from the president’s office to see that Uganda has enough power for its growth.

Sebei Hydro Uganda Ltd is doing a feasibility study in a bid to construct a power generating dam called Cheptui Small Hydro Electricity Project just a few meters inside Bulambuli district from Kapchorwa boundary.

Cheptui and Cheseber River will be merged together for better volumes but without making Cheseber dry.

The 15 Million Dollar project is expected to produce about 9.5 m/watts to the national grid, which will generate revenue and jobs locally.

The Vice Chairperson LCV madam Yeko Frida urged the developer to put into concern the issues of the wanainchi.

She also stressed the importance of supporting this project, especially in the current generation and the future where electricity is key.

The Dep CAO Mr Stephen Lokope thanked the team for this very important project which will benefit Kapchorwa and Sebei directly or indirectly, socially and economically, individual or communal.

The team leader of the developer, Mr Nicholas Magara, assured members that studies are ongoing and putting in mind the environmental and social aspects.
All stake holders upto grassroots shall be engaged before the project kicks off.

Sebei Hydro Uganda Ltd is from the Czech Republic, a European Union country.
