Attorney General Justin Muturi Clarifies Misquotation by The Standard Newspaper

In a recent statement dated July 11th, 2024, Attorney General Justin Bedan Njoka Muturi addressed a concerning issue involving The Standard Newspaper article where he was quoted saying “Ruto doesn’t take advice from anyone. He is his own advisor, so please blame him”.

The newspaper had released an article that included statements allegedly attributed to AG Muturi. However, he asserts that these statements were falsely quoted and do not reflect his views or words.

AG Muturi,the former magistrate, is known for his commitment to integrity and transparency by majority of Kenyans. He emphasized that the misquotations published by The Standard were misleading to the Kenyan public and undermine the principles he stands for.

The statement from AG Muturi reads:

“I am deeply concerned by an article published by The Standard Newspaper on 11th July 2024 that quotes statements falsely attributed to me. As a lawmaker and former magistrate, I uphold the highest standards of integrity and transparency. The misquotations in the article are misleading to the Kenyan public and undermine these principles.

I am actively pursuing legal channels to have The Standard retract these statements and correct the public record. It is imperative that the media maintain accuracy and responsibility in their reporting to ensure that the truth is upheld.

Kenyans online could hear non of it. Some said “He’s a coward, he fears he will be sacked in the pending reshuffle.”
