Mysterious Fire Destroys Properties in Kween District

Kween District, Uganda – A mysterious fire has left residents of Keere, Benyiny Town Council, in disbelief after it destroyed several properties under baffling circumstances early Sunday morning. The fire, which erupted around 2:00 a.m., has raised questions due to its unusual and selective behavior.

According to eyewitness accounts, the blaze ignited “out of nowhere” at the home of Mzee Cheptyony, a respected elder who lives with his two wives.

“The fire was strange; it seemed to target specific items. It burned three houses simultaneously, yet only destroyed particular belongings such as documents, clothes, and curtains,” said one witness.

What makes the incident even more puzzling are the events that followed. A local pastor who visited the scene to offer spiritual support shared an unsettling account of the fire’s behavior.

“As we were questioning Mzee Cheptyony to understand if he might know the origin of the fire, it suddenly started burning his trousers. While we were still processing that, the fire jumped to the maize store, setting it ablaze, and then burned a mattress that had been placed outside earlier in the day,” the pastor explained.

This strange occurrence prompted immediate prayers from religious leaders and community members. After hours of intense spiritual intervention, the fire was eventually extinguished. However, the pastor expressed doubt about the finality of their efforts, cautioning that the fire could possibly return.

The unusual incident has revived memories of a similar event in Tuban in 2010, where selected properties belonging to members of a specific clan were mysteriously burned.
