Minister Sam Cheptoris launches 17B Taryet water treatment plant in Kapchorwa

The Cabinet minister of Water and Environment, Hon Sam Cheptoris who doubles as Kapchorwa Municipality member of Parliament launched on Friday the 17 billion shillings Taryet water treatment plant in Kapchorwa Municipality.

The project will enhance water supply in the area.

Hon Everlyne Kubarika, the district LC5 kapchorwa district, appreciated the minister noting the past challenges in accessing water in the area. Further she urged the minister to extend water to areas which are still having difficulties in accessing water.

East division chairperson, Labu Emmanuel, cautioned authorities to address the issue of vandalism citing the instances of diverting water lines for farm use.

Martin Sakajja, the deputy RDC kapchorwa district, assured the public on the government’s commitment on providing safe drinking water in line with NRM vision 2040, of ensuring that all Ugandans get clean safe drinking water. Further he warned the community to desist from vandalizing the water pipes citing dry season.

The Taryet water treatment plant is expected to boost living conditions and productivity in Kapchorwa Municipality.

During the launch, Sam Cheptoris also reaffirmed his stand on not contesting again during the 2026 general election.

“I have been an LC5, I have also survived as an MP for 10 years, I believe this is enough for me to rest,” he said.
