Head teachers of Government aided Schools warned against charging pupils and students fees

Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC)kapchorwa Chemonges Abubakar Muhammad has cautioned Head teachers in Government Aided schools against charging students and pupils fees in the name of Development fee noting that such acts is illegal and undermines Government policy of Universal Education for all .

He made the remarks while on the supervision of all Government aided schools while speaking to Elgon radio Mr Abubakar noted that NRM ‘s Education policies aim to create skilled, Educated and social Economic development agendas .

Key areas of interest during the supervision is Enrolment, performance of the institutions , students/pupils turn up , the teacher, pupils /students ratio and absenteeism among the teaching staff among others.

The supervision is also intended to stock tick the challenges faced by this institution so that it informs the government planning process.

He also warned schools against buying examinations for their pupils and students to start setting their own Exams.

He further said external examination may demoralise the learners because sometimes what appears on the question papers may not have been taught by the class teacher
This makes learners think that he or she is unable to comprehend things in class or that teachers are incompetent.
