The president of Uganda Musicians Federation (UMF) Sebei region, Cherostic Mark aka Chirichiri has blasted Yonna Bless for cutting short musicians while they are starting to perform on stage.
According to Chirichiri, he has received several complaints concerning Yonna Bless ranging from the concert of Dr Lucky Mesh which was held on 25th December 2024 at Lambamba country resort kapchorwa to the just concluded Elgon Radio end of year explosion concert held on the new year at Pacific hotel kapchorwa.
According to Chirichiri, despite the two concerts being successful, some musicians weren’t happy with how Yonna Bless, the MC of the two events treated them.
“I have heard about those complaints. I’m going to hit the nail on the head, these complaints started from Lucky Mesh’s concert and the MC for that day was Yonna Bless, Musicians were complaining that some were being given 30 seconds and others were given enough time. I also personally witnessed the same thing during the Elgon explosion,” Chirichiri.
He noted that one of the artists was given 15 seconds when he started the intro and when he was going for the chorus, Yonna Bless told the DJ to stop.
“you know Yonna Bless, is a comedian and so some people think he can become an MC. Bless combines work with Jealousness and Biasines. I’m not afraid that if there’s a person who wants to spoil the music industry, Yonna Bless. As musicians we should sit down and promote Yonna Bless as a comedian as we leave the work for MC to other people but not to give him two jobs,” Chirichiri added.
He noted that Yonna Bless always feels jealous whenever he sees fans giving musicians money.
“When he sees Monkeys flying on you, he then tells the DJ to stop. why really, what pains you . Do your work. it’s the musician who controls the MC not you. And that issue of the MC remaining on stage and starting murmuring while the artist is performing is not good,” he added.
He however noted that they are organizing to meet soon as musicians and decide what next. he however advised event organizers that they should stop hiring Yonna Bless as an MC because most Musicians are not comfortable with him.
“Yonna Bless demoralizes upcoming musicians. some of the musicians have reached to an extent where they have said they won’t be attending any event if Yonna is the MC. why should I fail to attend your event just because of Yonna Bless, events organizers should look on this,” Chirichiri added.
This comes after several artists expressed their dissatisfaction on how Yonna Bless treated them during Dr lucky Mesh and Elgon explosion concert.
