A woman from Kween District has come out to expose how a group of Sabinys staying in Mbarara robbed her of her hard earned money in the name of connecting her for a job.
The woman who identified herself as Chemutai Elizabeth, from Kibabe ward, Binyiny town council, Kween District, noted that she was called by her brother whom she identified as Ronny on 16th December 2024, telling her that he has gotten a job for her.
“I was called by brother Ronny who told me that there was a job opportunity. When I asked him which type of job, he told me that there are no requirements needed but you only improvise yourself with transportation,” Chemutai said.
She added that the brother also told her that the job was juicy and pays well there was no need for her to start a retail shop business.
“I traveled on the 3rd of January and arrived on 4th morning in Mbarara Bus Park whereby he welcomed very well and he gave a number of a certain girl called Kasfah, who instructed me to get a bodaboda who took me she was staying,” she said.
She noted that on Sunday 5th, his brother Ronny, with three girls whom she identified as Lorna and Kasfah and mercy on 5th January evening decided to confiscate her money.
“They took my money, however when I asked why they were taking my money, they told me to just relax that there was no problem. However, they asked me “Do you know how we suffer when we are here in Mbarara. I replied to them that how come that we are going to suffer yet you told me that everything is good and they are paying you good,” she added.
She added that on 6th Monday, she requested them to take her to the office. however they told her to continue sleeping until it was around 8:00 am whereby they told her to prepare . However when they were going, she was asked to pay 5k Ugshs for transportation which she didn’t have since they had taken all her money.
Following that, they took her to a certain room where her brother came in while sweating seriously.
“I saw everything was not adding up, so I told them let me call home people. however when I tried calling home people, they tried to remove my phone but I told them there was no need since I was not going to call anyone anymore. Still in that room, they told me that I should add them Ugshs 1.3 million so as they will secure me the job,” she added.
Chemutai noted that she decided to escape in fear that the group could kill her.
“I decided to escape when they decided to disappear one by one. I decided to change the clothes I had and cover my Head so that they could not identify me. however when I entered the bus, my brother arrived also and asked me to board off which I refused. On seeing that I have refused, he decided to throw for me my national ID and passport photos and said that the good thing is that as you are going back home, you are going as a dead body in a coffin,” she added.
Chemutai added that she was just praying as she traveled back home.
When I arrived home, I decided to come to Elgon Radio so as I can expose these people.
She noted that, the brother deceived her that she was going to work in a factory which makes milk, Yoghurt, and ice cream.
