S.6 Student arrested for cheating UACE Exams using Al

Police in masaka have arrested a Senior six students for cheating Uganda Advance Certificate of Education (UACE) exams using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The student has been identified as Cicilia Nabahinda, a student who was registered under Masaka Hall.

According to the UNEB Spokesperson Jennifer Kalule, the student was caught on Monday 11, using Al on her phone to download an essay during an afternoon paper.

Relatedly, another female student from the same Examination hall was also apprehended for using the phone to cheat exams. The student was identified as Grace Nakayimba. According to Kalule, Nakayimba was caught with summarized notes on her phone during the afternoon paper.

Both students were taken to Masaka City police station pending investigation.

In Uganda, phones are not allowed into the Examination hall and it’s a crime if found with it.

On Monday, over 142, 000 students sat for the UACE Exams across the country with arts students starting with History paper 3 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. While the science students started with principals of mathematics paper 1.

This exam marks the end of 4Es series exams of this year.
