14 Arrested for Blocking Ugandan President Museveni’s Motorcade

The Special Forces Command (SFC), an elite unit responsible for protecting the President, has arrested 14 individuals for blocking President Yoweri Museveni’s motorcade and removing the National Emblem from his vehicle.

Security sources report that the incident took place two days ago in Kansanga as Museveni was on his way to Entebbe State House. Around 11:30 a.m., a group of 15 people allegedly rammed into the presidential convoy.

According to reports, some members of the group had hide themselves at a Rubis petrol station in Kansanga, while others blended in as pedestrians. The suspects were apprehended and taken to Kabalagala Police Station.

Those arrested include Nabukyu Janet, Lumu Shafiq, Kalema Joshua, Nsubuga Sharif, Kayanja Tom, Mawejje John, Katumba Jimmy, Holiday Robben, Namugerwa Nanfuka Annet, Mukisa Jennifer, Kato Kimbugwe, Nakabugo Elidada, Nasolo Gladys, and Kamala William.

On Thursday, they appeared in court and were charged with reckless pedestrian behavior. Meanwhile, Mutebi Sharif, accused of removing the National Emblem from the President’s vehicle, faces charges of malicious damage and is expected to appear in court on Friday.
