Kampala — Education Minister Janet Kataha Museveni is expected to release the results of the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) this week.
According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), the minister will be briefed on the performance of candidates during a meeting at State House Nakasero on Tuesday at 2:30 pm. The Ministry of Education and Sports confirmed that the exact release date will be announced after the briefing.
Sources within UNEB, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the release is tentatively scheduled for Thursday.
This year, a total of 798,763 candidates sat for the PLE, comprising 419,357 females and 379,414 males. Among these, 3,295 were Special Needs Education candidates, with 1,677 females and 1,618 males.
The PLE results will mark the beginning of the release of Uganda’s 2024 national examination results. UNEB is also set to release the results for the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) in the coming weeks.
According to the 2024 school calendar, PLE candidate placement is scheduled for January 27 and 28, while UCE candidate placement will take place on February 6 and 7.
Primary Seven learners who successfully transition to secondary school will report for Senior One on February 10, 2025. Similarly, Senior Four candidates joining Senior Five will begin classes on February 24, 2025.
The release of PLE results remains a key milestone in Uganda’s education calendar, determining the next steps for thousands of learners nationwide.
